The Lord of the Rings character was portrayed by Viggo Mortensen in the film trilogy.

It’s hard not to like a dude who would have gone with Frodo to the end, into the very fires of Mordor. So it’s understandable that Barbie star Margot Robbie pointed to Aragron, son of Arathorn, from the Lord of the Rings trilogy as one of her first cinematic crushes.

Speaking with W Magazine alongside Barbie co-star Ryan Gosling, Robbie revealed the 87-year-old Aragorn as her movie crush. This led to playful banter with Gosling, who asked whether she meant the book character. Robbie responded it was the portrayal of Strider by Viggo Mortensen in the film trilogy from the early 2000s.

Now thirsting for the ranger from the North obviously isn’t the only thing Robbie has talked about recently. Last month, the actress said she couldn’t rule out Barbie 2. Meanwhile, a couple of weeks ago, DC Studios co-head James Gunn spoke about his desire to work with Robbie again as either Harley Quinn or another character in the superhero universe.

As for Mortensen, the actor talked about one of the scariest moments he had filming Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers back in 2021 with Stephen Colbert. During a scene as Aragorn at the Battle of Helm’s Deep, Mortensen said he got hit with a bout of vertigo on a set of stairs during the night. “Somehow I got through it, but it was horrible,” he said.

New Lord of the Rings movies are reportedly in the works at Warner Bros. Discovery and New Line Cinema, but details are sparse at this time.
