In Sniper Elite, players assume the role of an American sniper, disguised as a German soldier and dropped into war torn 1945 Berlin by the American OSS to gather intelligence on the top-secret German Atomic research. If his mission fails, control of the world’s Atomic technology will fall into the hands of Stalin and the Soviet Army, throwing the world’s political climate into chaos. In the undercover mission, players utilize their sniper training to gain access to key positions by taking out machine guns, armored vehicles, guard posts and sentries through stealth and pinpoint accuracy. Like a true sniper, players must follow their wits and instincts and utilize both first and third-person perspectives to negotiate through 28 open-ended levels in war-torn Berlin. In taking aim at enemy soldiers, players need to consider gravity, wind speed, heart rate, breathing and posture to successfully hit their target in one of the most authentic sniping mechanics ever devised. Players can even take up the fight or go head-to-head with a friend in the cooperative or competitive offline play modes, or even engage in a game of worldwide cat-and-mouse with up to eight players online. Rebellion did an awesome job on the sound in Sniper Elite.86XboxAddict
I thoroughly enjoyed playing this game and although its nature won’t appeal to the John Rambo type players, it will appeal to the players that love sniping.85MS Xbox World

It really is the most accurate depiction of a scope we’ve seen in a game, easily outstripping “Halo’s” sniper mode or the arcade nonsense of Konami’s “Silent Scope.” [Official UK Xbox Magazine]80Computer and Video Games
Aside from a few awkward moments, Sniper Elite is a perfectly entertaining game that handles sniper action as good as any other action game.80GameZone
You will also get frustrated that the A.I seems to have an advantage but that to some just makes it more of a challenge.80Xbox Solution

If you’re a big fan of tagging enemies with sniper bullets and watching your calculated handiwork culminate in a gore-filled, slow motion replay, then you’ll definitely enjoy Sniper Elite.77IGN

The realism may turn off some run and gun gamers, but even those fans will have a hard time not appreciating what Sniper Elite brings to the table in terms of great and entertaining game play.75Gaming Age
It’s not for those with short attention spans, but patient players who aren’t squeamish should enjoy Sniper Elite’s tense and methodically paced action.74GameSpot
What lies beneath its rather unspectacular veneer is a really well designed game that approaches the conflict from a different angle and provides a solid platform for a hugely entertaining game.70Eurogamer
Love ’em or hate ’em, snipers are modern combat’s ninjas. Sniping your way through one whole game might be fun, if you can stand the slow pace.70DarkStation
