Bethesda’s online action role-playing game, Fallout 76, has received a new update bringing bug fixes and resolutions, marking the first update of 2024 for the rejuvenated game. Fallout 76 Patch 1.7.9.7 is available on all playable platforms and can be installed now.
Fallout 76 is the latest installment in Bethesda’s popular Fallout series, having launched in October 2018. Although the game was initially derided by players for a slew of bugs and a lack of quest-giving NPCs, Bethesda has put in work releasing updates and improvements. Its third major update, Wastelanders, added NPCs and major new storylines, and as a result of these and other changes, Fallout 76 reached 13.5 million players by December 2022. Further improvements and upgrades saw the player count reach 17 million by the end of 2023.
Bethesda’s most recent patch, 1.7.9.7, for Fallout 76 coincides with the launch of the Burning Love event but doesn't otherwise release new content. It does bring a lot of bug fixes and improvements aimed at enhancing the gaming experience. Some issues with challenges have been fixed so that, for example, plastic gas canisters now count towards the daily challenge of collecting fuel tanks or gas canisters. There have also been fixes to crafting, and players can once again craft communist militant outfits and other communist clothing and armor items. And there has been a whole raft of fixes to expeditions.
Fallout 76 Burning Love Event Launches
Fallout 76’s Burning Love event also launched on January 30 and runs until February 13 at 12 PM ET. Players can claim a free Hot Rod Pink Flamer skin from the Atomic Shop and use the newly skinned Flamer to complete weekly incineration challenges. Rewards for completing the challenges include Fallout 76 Perk Cards, Legendary Modules, and Repair Kits, as well as a Pink Mechanic Jumpsuit and Rose Tinted Glasses for completing four of five weekly challenges. Players that complete four challenges in both weeks will receive a Pink Fireplace. When the Burning Love event ends, Bethesda is ready to launch the Fasnacht special event.
