Get ready for one of the most highly acclaimed video games of 2023, as it gears up for a sensational release on PlayStation and Xbox gaming consoles.
Fast-paced first-person shooter game Turbo Overkill was one of the highest-rated game releases of 2023, and soon it will find its way to consoles. 2023 was an absolutely stacked year in terms of new game releases. So many great games released in 2023 that some of the higher-rated titles managed to get lost in the shuffle.
With so much discussion about massive games like The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Baldur's Gate 3, it's no surprise that Turbo Overkill has somewhat flown under the radar despite having an impressive 91 overall critic rating. Something else working against it is that Turbo Overkill is a PC exclusive at the time of this writing, but it will soon be expanding its horizons to consoles.
In a tweet, Turbo Overkill publisher Apogee Entertainment confirmed that the studio is "working on the porting process" and that news on the console versions of the game will be shared "soon." PureXbox pointed out that Turbo Overkill was previously announced for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, and so it's possible the game will be coming to all those systems. However, it's also possible plans may have changed. Apogee Entertainment did not specify which consoles it's porting Turbo Overkill to in the tweet or when the console release date will be, so fans should hang tight for more information.
As previously mentioned, Turbo Overkill has a 91 critic rating, but it's just not professional critics that have heaped praise on the game. A visit to the Turbo Overkill Steam page proves that users on Valve's platform adore the FPS as well. At the time of this writing, Turbo Overkill currently has an "Overwhelmingly Positive" overall rating on Steam. Needless to say, fans of FPS games should definitely look into Turbo Overkill if they haven't already.
Turbo Overkill finds itself as the 13th highest-rated new game release of 2023. This puts it ahead of the critically-acclaimed Marvel's Spider-Man 2, which was in 14th place with a 90 overall rating. However, it's worth pointing out that Spider-Man 2 had many more reviews written for it than Turbo Overkill, so it's possible the release of the game's console version will see its review score fluctuate quite a bit.
