Square Enix released a new trailer for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, showcasing the fight against the Terror of the Deep boss and many other notable moments from the upcoming game. The promo surfaced online mere weeks after the last Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer debuted at The Game Awards.
FF7 Rebirth is the second game in Square Enix's planned trilogy of Final Fantasy 7 remakes. Much like its predecessor, the game is planned to debut as a timed PlayStation exclusive before eventually making its way to PC. The PS5 version of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is scheduled to hit the market on February 29.
Square Enix today shared yet another Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth trailer, its fourth such promo since announcing the game's release date back in September. Titled Destined for Rebirth, the minute-long video teases some of the main story beats from the upcoming game, most of which revolve around Cloud and his allies' struggle against Sephiroth. The clip also includes a few glimpses of the dramatic fight against Terror of the Deep. Fans of the 1997 game will instantly recognize this erratic creature as Bottomswell, one of the many bosses from the original Final Fantasy 7.
A few new creature additions can also be glimpsed from the new trailer, as can Midgar Zolom, the mysterious serpent that's occasionally referred to as Midgardsormr in the series' lore. Finally, the trailer goes over a few additional story beats from Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, including the Nibelheim Incident and Junon ceremony. Square Enix accompanied the video with over a dozen new high-definition screenshots from the upcoming game. While some of them retread the moments from the trailer itself, others showcase close-ups of the game's many characters, including Elena and Yuffie Kisaragi.
New Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Screenshots
A new look at the Junon region is also part of the latest image batch, as is another depiction of the Shinra-8 ship piloted by Captain Titov, who will help the party to travel between Junon and Costa Del Sol. One of the final screenshots shared by Square Enix depicts Cait Sith riding its iconic Moogle steed through the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth version of Gold Saucer, a one-of-a-kind amusement park located in the ruins of Old Corel.
Given the timing of the newly shared video and Square Enix's track record, it is plausible that Destined for Rebirth will end up being the game's penultimate trailer; from here on out, fans probably shouldn't count on many more additional looks at Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth beyond its inevitable launch trailer prior to its release.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is the highly-anticipated continuation of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The story will continue to follow Cloud Strife and may even see appearances from Zack Fair.
