An iconic World of Warcraft legendary is getting a brand-new weapon type in Seeds of Renewal, as players will be able to obtain it in Patch 10.2.5.

Highlights

Thunderfury, a popular legendary weapon in World of Warcraft, will have a bow version in the upcoming update.

Players can unlock the Thunderfury bow by obtaining it from the Trading Post, although the exact method is unknown.

The Trading Post in World of Warcraft has received mixed reviews from the community, but many cosmetics have returned to the rotation over time.

Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker, is getting a bow version in the upcoming World of Warcraft update, as two cosmetic items inspired by the legendary weapon were datamined on the test realms for Patch 10.2.5. One of the first legendary weapons introduced to World of Warcraft, Thunderfury holds a special kind of notoriety among fans. Not only did multiple classes fight over the rare drops needed to forge Thunderfury, but the wind-kissed blade has since become the subject of several memes due to a tradition of players incessantly spamming its name in trade chat.

Artifact Weapons in Legion saw the return of Thunderfury to prominence, as Outlaw Rogues in World of Warcraft had an opportunity to unlock the Thunderfury visual appearance for their Dreadblades, albeit not before obtaining the Bindings of the Windlord. With the launch of Dragonflight, Blizzard seems to have fully embraced the fashion side of the game, as the current World of Warcraft expansion not only allows players to customize their own draconic mounts, but the inclusion of the Trading Post offers a growing list of cosmetics to purchase as a reward for being subscribed to World of Warcraft.

World of Warcraft Adding Thunderfury, Blessed Bow of the Windseeker in Patch 10.2.5

One of the new cosmetic additions coming in Seeds of Renewal appears to be a bow version of Thunderfury, in two different color schemes. Datamined by Wowhead from Patch 10.2.5's PTR, the Blessed Bow of the Windseeker and Titan Thunderbow will offer Hunters the possibility to appreciate their classic legendary weapon in a new form. Though it remains to be seen how World of Warcraft players will be able to obtain the Thunderfury bow, it's highly likely that both variants will end up on the Trading Post.

While the debut of the Trading Post feature in World of Warcraft has given Blizzard the chance to offer cosmetics not tied to an expansion or raid tier, the reception in the community has been mixed. A common point of criticism has been its "flavor of the month" format, where the selection of purchasable cosmetics changes every month. Thankfully, World of Warcraft fans have seen many items return to the Trading Post rotation over its first year of existence, which bodes well for players who may have missed a cosmetic from its earlier months.

In addition to providing an epilogue to Dragonflight's story, Seeds of Renewal in World of Warcraft is also adding a new capital city for the Night Elves following the destruction of Teldrassil and Darnassus. It will launch on January 16, 2024, as Blizzard slowly set the stage for The War Within and the Worldsoul Saga.
