Following the Seven-Star Tera Raid battles against Empoleon, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players will get another Tera raid for Valentine's Day, as they will face Luvdisc in a series of Three-Star to Five-Star battles. The appropriately heart-shaped critter will soon arrive in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and trainers who emerge victorious will receive some enticing rewards.
Known as the Rendezvous Pokemon, Luvdisc is a Water-type Pokemon that first appeared in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. With a pink, heart-shaped body, the aquatic Pokemon symbolizes love and romance throughout the series. While Luvdisc has access to Water, Ice, and Normal-type attacks, it is not considered among the best Water-type Pokemon out there due to its low base stat total of 330. While its speed stat of 97 is nothing to sneeze at, the rest of Luvdisc's base stats are not high, making it an easy target for stronger Pokemon to overpower in any battle setting.
Despite Luvdisc being an underwhelming Pokemon in battles, that has not stopped The Pokemon Company from using it for their Valentine's Day celebrations. The Rendezvous Pokemon will appear in Three-Star to Five-Star Tera Raid Dens through Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, starting on Sunday, February 11, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern, and ending on Thursday, February 15, at 6:59 p.m. Eastern. This means that the Luvdisc raid dens will appear immediately after the second round of Seven-Star Tera Raid Battles against Empoleon the Unrivaled concludes on Sunday, February 11, at 6:59 p.m. Eastern, so there will be no overlap between the two events.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Tera Raids (Valentine's Day 2024)
As for Luvdisc itself, it will have the Fairy type as its Tera type, and it will have a higher chance of dropping EXP Candies and Rare Candies in different amounts, depending on which level it is fought at. Though Luvdisc will get a bonus from using Water-type and Fairy-type attacks, its low statistics render it an easy opponent for Pokemon trainers that can exploit its weaknesses, including but not limited to using Steel and strong Poison-type Pokemon. Pokemon such as Clodsire, Archaludon, or Pecharunt should be reliable picks against the Rendezvous Pokemon.
