Atlus has officially stated that they have no immediate intentions to develop a re-release of Persona 3 Reload in a similar fashion to their highly acclaimed Persona 5 Royal.
According to the developers of Persona 3 Reload, the upcoming game won't be getting an updated re-release like Persona 5 Royal. Persona 3 Reload will be launching on February 2. The remake is mostly focused on recreating the original experience, while incorporating some aspects from previous re-releases of Persona 3. While hype is high, fans have been worried about Persona 3 Reload getting a superior re-release years after launch, much like Persona 5 Royal before it.
The original Persona 5 was released in 2016 for PS3 and PS4 after a period of troubled development. A few years later, Atlus released Persona 5 Royal, an updated version of the game that contained some quality-of-life improvements, a brand-new storyline, new confidant links, and other overhauls. While this version was praised by fans and critics, others didn't like how they purchased and invested time in the original game, only for it to become outdated a few years later. Fans should be assured that Persona 3 Reload likely won't be going down Persona 5 Royal's route of getting an updated re-release years later.
Is Persona 3 Reload Getting a Persona 4 Golden/Persona 5 Royal-style Re-Release?
According to an interview with Gamerwk and Persona 3 Reload producer, Kazuhisa Wada, Atlus isn't considering a revised release of Reload like Persona 5 got with Persona 5 Royal. He states that fans can be assured that Persona 3 Reload will offer a completely remade experience of the original game, and that they worked hard to make sure the game would have a simultaneous worldwide release. "Currently, we are not considering a revision like with Persona 5 to Persona 5 Royal," says Wada. "So, fans can rest assured knowing that Persona 3 Reload offers a complete experience."
Atlus has done updated re-releases like Persona 5 Royal before, as the original Persona 3 had tworevised releases before Persona 3 Reload. There was Persona 3 FES, a release that is considered a "director's cut" of the original game and included a playable epilogue campaign that stars Aigis as the main character. Following that, Atlus released Persona 3 Portable, a recut version of the original game that was developed for the PlayStation Portable handheld system, featuring content not found in FES, such as a playable female protagonist.
