Origin mode is a faithful Steam recreation of the very first version of XeGrader, originally developed for NEC’s PC-8001mkII in 1983. It places strong emphasis on capturing the atmosphere and expressive style of that era. Immerse yourself in the tension and distinctive worldview of early Japanese PC games, shaped by the creative limitations of pioneering hardware.

• Graphics utilize the original image data from the PC-8001mkII version of XeGrader

• Screen resolution follows PC-8001mkII specifications: 320×200 pixels with 4 simultaneous colors

• Audio is created using pseudo-musical scales produced by rapidly switching BEEP sounds on and off

• Gameplay is based on the original version with some modifications, including the addition of vampire enemies

• Puzzles have been rebalanced compared to the original release
