Texelizer offers you a suite of texture painting tools with support for layers, blending modes and masks to aid you in your retro-inspired texturing, enabling you to paint textures for your models in 3D and 2D viewports.
Note: Only diffuse textures and an unlit viewport are supported. If you need PBR or baking features, you'll want to use some other program instead!
Paint in real-time straight onto your imported 3D model in 3D viewport, or in 2D viewport when you need pixel-perfect accuracy. Note that Texelizer is designed for low-poly work - models under 5k tris should run fine.
Bake AO, Curvature, Vertex Bloom, Top Light for your models easily via readily available buttons in the Layer Stack. Note that baking from high-poly to low-poly is NOT supported.
Support for 3D models in .obj, .glb, .fbx formats. Support for up to 8 materials per project.
Support for 16-512 working resolution texture sizes with square and non-square power of two dimensions supported. Export textures in .png, .tga, .bmp formats, as small as 8x8 to as large as 1024x1024 via nearest neighbor scaling. Export looping turntable animation of your textured model in .gif or .png formats.
Layer Stack with support for masks, folders, blending modes, opacity per layer. Import images by drag-n-dropping.
Import your own color palettes, apply quantization to your model, and apply optional dithering with multiple dithering styles available. Import your custom fonts, b&w brush tip alphas and pattern alphas via folders in AppData (Windows) or .config (Linux).
Preview tiling on 2D viewport, useful for creating tiling environment textures.
Add .jpg and .png images from your computer to the Layer Stack simply by dragging and dropping them onto the program (they will be resized to project resolution automatically).
Symmetry painting on 2D viewport. No 3D symmetry painting at the moment - use mirrored UVs for symmetry!
Apply FX Toggles to your layers: drop shadow, color tweak, bevel & emboss, gradient overlay, gradient map, gaussian blur, pattern fill.
Transform any layer's contents easily via a transform tool, accessible via Ctrl+T shortcut. Nudge layer contents with arrow keys.
Customizable UI fonts and colors to suit your needs and moods.
...and more! Such as: pen-tablet support, text tool, re-bindable hotkeys, autosaves, 30-step undo history, bilinear/low res/bloom preview for 3D viewport, turntable exporting, tri-planar transform inside 3D viewport, gradient editor...
All of the above in a small package under 50 megabytes, no online features.
Full List of Painting Tools:
Pencil - Draw with a hard-edged pencil.
Brush - Paint with a brush with configurable hardness and flow.
Eraser - Erase pixels from the active layer.
Fill - Single-click flood-fill by UV island, triangle face, color threshold, sub-mesh, or by material.
Spray - Sprays full-opacity dots inside brush radius randomly.
Blur - Like brush tool, but for blurring already painted layers.
Smudge - Pushes paint around, finger-painting style.
Jumble - Scrambles pixels inside the brush radius for a noise effect.
Clone - Alt+click to set a source point, then paint elsewhere to copy from it.
Eyedropper - Sample any color from your texture. Alt+click for fast sampling while painting.
Mask - Like fill tool, but for masks. (Fill tool can still be used with masks as well).
Marquee - Drag to make a rectangular selection that gates every other tool's paint, or create new layers from the selection by copying or cutting via a right-click menu.
Shape - Draw filled or outlined 2D shapes: rectangles, circles, pills, or lines, with optional pattern fills. Custom pattern fills supported
Text - Type and transform live text via a gizmo and choose its color before committing it to pixels. Custom fonts supported.
Gradient - Drag a linear, reflected, or radial gradient with multi-stop presets. Save your gradient presets to use later.
