About Iron Resolution

Lead Your Company Through Blood and Iron

In Iron Resolution, you command a mercenary company in a brutal medieval world where every battle leaves lasting scars. Death is permanent, injuries linger, and low morale can shatter even the strongest veteran. Inspired by the unforgiving mercenary classics, survive a grueling 10-level campaign where terrain, positioning, and tough decisions determine who lives.

For the Solo Strategist: A sprawling 10-level campaign with escalating difficulty and true permadeath that will test your iron resolve.

For the Competitive Duelist: Jump into Iron Duel mode for head-to-head PvP (local or online via Steam lobbies), with customizable rules and unit presets.  Online multiplayer is now working, but is still being tested.

⚔️ CORE GAMEPLAY

TACTICAL GRID COMBAT

Positioning is everything. Forests provide essential cover, Mountains boost accuracy from above, and Swamps bog down movement and expose you to danger. Master the battlefield or die in it.

PERSISTENT INJURIES & MORALE

Your soldiers are more than hit points. A single critical hit inflicts lasting wounds: concussion reduces accuracy, broken arms reduce strength, and broken legs slow movement.  Morale breaks lead to fleeing or worse. Your Mage can heal between missions and bolster spirits, but scars remain forever.

4 DISTINCT CLASSES

Build your company as units level up across missions.  Each demands a unique tactical approach:

  • Knight: Heavy armour, high HP, the unbreakable defensive anchor.

  • Archer: Fragile but lethal at range with precise shots.

  • Mage: Essential support healer that keeps your company fighting.

  • Berserker: Devastating multi-attacks powerhouse, high reward, if you don't overcommit.

TWO WAYS TO PLAY

  • Campaign Mode — 10 hand-crafted levels that ramp up in difficulty, from desperate village defenses to treacherous mountain strongholds, pesky gremlin mazes, and epic boss levels.  Fine-tune the challenge with 5 difficulty options (Super Easy to Super Hard) that adjust enemy strength and numbers on every level.

  • Iron Duel Mode — Head-to-head PvP (local or online) with fully customizable matches—bring your favorite units and rules.  Online is now working but still being tested and may have minor sync issues.

⚔️ The Ironlands need a leader. Will you answer the call?

From a Solo Developer

Hi, I'm Martin, a solo dev, pouring my heart into Iron Resolution. Every mechanic, pixel, and brutal decision comes from my love of high-stakes strategy and roguelike permanence. It's a passion project that's still evolving—your feedback and support shape its future!

📜 Version History

v1.14 – 30th August 2026

  • The much-requested SAVE GAME feature is now implemented.  The game auto-saves at the beginning of every level.  A new Continue Campaign button appears on the main screen to continue from the saved level.

  • Removed the morale bar from the units to make them cleaner (morale is still visible in the unit stats panel)

  • Updated the in-game instructions to include all new features.

v1.11 – 29th August 2026

  • Added different sounds for each type of attack, making it much clearer to hear what's happening, plus a new cool sound for teleporting in 2-player mode!

  • Volume controls added with separate sliders for Menu Music, Game Music, and Sound FX (main menu settings & in-game options)

  • Added an injury indicator as a red dot on units, making it much clearer which of your units needs help.

  • Fixed a rare freeze when the last unit was fleeing.

  • Updated the End-Turn icon to make it clearer.

v1.07 – 26th August 2026

General Fixes

  • The in-game music preference is now remembered between sessions.

  • Levels 7, 8, and 9 are slightly more challenging.

Remote Two-Player Fixes

  • Fog now clears for both players.

  • Player 1's moves now sync to Player 2 in real time.

  • End of turn works correctly and no longer gets stuck.

  • Pressing Enter accepts the lobby code.

  • Score display works properly for both players.

  • Round history now shows correctly for Player 1.

  • In-game music now triggers for Player 2.

Known bugs: Round history does not yet show for Player 2.  There is a small chance that units will bounce and not accept a move. (Annoying if you've just killed the enemy, but satisfying if you missed.)

v1.01 – 12th August 2026

  • Fixed the E key error that caused the end of turn to trigger twice.

v1.00 – 12th August 2026

  • Initial release
