A living grave opened beneath the realm and took everything — cathedral, crown and court. Only the stone gargoyle on its roof would not digest.

Fifty single-screen arenas stand between you and the heart beating at the bottom. Clear each one by spitting stone at everything that moves, then take one of three dark gifts and descend again. Stand still and the maw remembers you are there.

SPIT STONE. DODGE. DESCEND.

• Aim in three directions — hold up or down as you throw. Walls and platforms block your stone, so position is a weapon.
  
• Evade dash — a short burst of invulnerability. Read the attack, commit, punish.
  
• No safe corners — every stage runs on a timer. When it expires the maw starts taking hearts.

FIVE STRATA, TWENTY SPECIES, FIVE KINGS

Stone, ash, blood, hollow and gold. Each act is a different layer of the swallowed kingdom with its own palette, its own four monster species and its own king waiting at the bottom of it. Twenty creatures, and no two of them move alike — the ghouls of the upper crypt have nothing in common with the gilded dead below.

The kings do not share a silhouette, an attack or a way of moving. The Stone King buries the arena in rockfall. The Hollow King blinks out of reach and answers in radial fire. The Crypt God levitates over you and alternates fans with the ceiling itself.

DIE. BANK YOUR SOULS. GO DEEPER.

Every run feeds the Sanctum. Souls you carry out buy permanent unlocks — new cards in the pool, gargoyle skins, an extra heart to start with — and the Eternal Altar spends them on a stat tree deep enough to outlast many clears.

Reach the bottom and the maw simply opens wider: New Game+ loops with harder fiends and richer souls, as many times as you can survive.
