Be the first to uploadAbout Chipforge
Chipforge is a playable synthesizer and generative music workstation for Linux. Build chiptune grooves, shape your own sounds, perform evolving arrangements, and bring your music to life with reactive visuals.
Start with one of 59 musical styles, then take control of the notes, instruments, rhythm, and mix. Forge your own synth patches, sculpt a synthetic vocal voice, or record and chop samples. The sound is synthesized locally, with hands-on controls for composition and live performance.
MAKE IT YOUR OWN
• Edit melodies, basslines, and drum patterns.
• Design custom instrument sounds in the Forge editors.
• Shape pitched vowel sounds, harmonics, and vocal effects in VOX Forge.
• Record, trim, and play samples with the native PipeWire sampler.
• Save sounds and visual settings as reusable presets.
PLAY IT LIVE
Store ten performance memories, queue changes, and transition between grooves. Auto DJ can mutate patterns and blend musical styles while you control how much changes. Keep a groove running, introduce the next variation, or take over manually.
SEE THE SOUND
Explore ten visual scenes with reactive shapes, instrument charms, and pixel effects. Export music videos or record a live audiovisual performance.
KEEP CREATING
Save your workspace as a portable .chipforge project. Export WAV audio, MIDI, and stems for further production in your DAW, or share an editable project with another Chipforge musician.
OPTIONAL AI COMPOSER
Use natural-language instructions to help compose patterns and edit sounds, arrangements, and visuals. AI features require your own supported provider API key and incur separate provider charges. Synthesis, manual editing, local generation, and Auto DJ work without AI.
